  1. Many people can relate to the scene from the movie “Office Space” when several employees take a baseball bat to an office printer.

Although the film made for a good laugh, challenges with office hardware and software do have a serious effect on the business. Ineffective tools and technology lead to frustration and, in many instances, result in employees disengaging. And worker disengagement is the last thing companies need, as digital transformation ups the competition ante. Organizations are depending heavily on employees to help them capitalize on the latest opportunities within the new digital economy.

  2. Mobile first design is not a new concept.

It has been around for more than a decade and it’s used to refer to the strategy of designing and developing digital experiences for mobile devices at the very start of a project; rather than the traditional approach of first designing for desktop and consequently for mobile.

However, the term is possibly more relevant in the business world today than ever before.

  4. Brexit is getting closer and with negotiations still in progress, all of us digital marketers are out there watching and waiting with bated breath…
In times of uncertainty or turmoil, markets have the capability of evolving much faster than most digital marketers can adapt. This gap between how you see the market and the reality of what’s happening in the market will become a major hurdle in the coming years for many marketers. In fact, experts are even calling Brexit a wake up call for everyone in the digital marketing industry. So the question is, is your digital team ready to re-strategise when push comes to shove?

  5. Retail CIOs are building an omnichannel network to reach their customers in multiple ways. The looming challenge remains the unparalleled speed of changing dynamics, driven primarily by a savvier and demanding new generation of shoppers. With this, CIOs in the retail industry today are facing a 'do or die' situation with building and introducing novel digital experiences for customers.

Although online sales for retailers are growing exponentially, there is still very strong interest in shopping at brick and mortar stores. However, the dynamics have grown to a complex juxtaposition — where apart from being able to securely shop online from their favorite retailer, the customer also wants to have the ability to walk into a store location and have an ultra-rich digital experience that establishes an intimate relationship.

  6. The payments business has undergone a massive revolution. While online shopping technology has surged forward with better shopping cart systems, AI-assisted tools to help you find what you're looking for - even when you don't know what you want, and greatly improved user interfaces, payments have languished. Andy Barker, the head of payments at online commerce shopping provider Magento, and I spoke about this at the recent MagentoLive event.

  7. Online feedback forms come in many different shapes and sizes. To initiate these different types of feedback forms on a website or mobile app, two different methods are used: a passive approach (e.g. a feedback button on the side of your website) and an active approach (e.g. triggering a feedback form when a customer reaches a certain goal on the website, or when a visitor leaves the page).

  8. Parks Associates today released research showing 54% of U.S. broadband households see little value in return for sharing their data. In addition, 42% do not trust companies will be able to keep their data safe. The research firm hosts the 12th-annual CONNECTIONS™ Summit: IoT and the Smart Home, January 9 at CES® 2018 in Las Vegas, to discuss strategies to flip these perceptions and make consumers more at ease with connected products and the value they receive.

  9. Many of us take the personalised content provided by the likes of Amazon, Facebook and online supermarkets for granted. They’re constantly using data - in key moments - to create more meaningful, relevant experiences.

But we find that lots of marketers think it takes an Amazon sized marketing budget to take advantage of digital personalisation. This simply isn’t true...

  10. It may seem evident that the aim of using collaboration tools is to enable excellent communication and information management. Used correctly, the technology also facilitates vital decision-making. Yet, according to The Harvard Business Review, almost 40% of CIOs and IT professionals say their systems make it harder, not easier, for employees to work quickly.

When choosing communications and collaboration technology for business, a key factor is the user experience (UX) it delivers. This includes a well-designed user interface (UI) to enable easy and intuitive collaboration. The UI encompasses all the visual elements used to interact with conferencing platforms – from screens to pages and even buttons and icons.
