  1. What is the primary goal of the software development team at your company? Until fairly recently, the answer to that question was simple: to develop functional software.

For the first several decades of the Information Age, creating functional software was the only target development teams had to hit. Unfortunately, things are no longer quite so simple.

  3. One broad question that hounds almost all designers everywhere — ‘What is the perfect designing strategy to develop a user-friendly platform?’ The simpler version of it would be looking for an answer by actually observing the design yourself. Observation is the most critical asset of a designer when developing a design based on User Experience (UX). Ultimately, a good design is not just the by-product of creative ideas but an amalgamation of multiple design elements chosen to bring the idea/imagination to life.

When it comes to User Experience, some factors must be considered prior to the designing task.

  5. So as I was going through all of the possible scenarios in my head (which we all know is an endless cycle thanks to George R.R. Martin’s genius writing), it dawned on me that Game of Thrones has a lot of cryptic, yet valuable tips when it comes to digital feedback. Let’s take a look at what can be learned…

  6. The ongoing seismic shift toward digital technologies poses significant challenges for retail banks and credit unions. Financial institutions are accustomed to interacting with consumers in brick-and-mortar branch environments. These days, they must adapt to a new generation of consumers who manage their banking relationships in a mobile-first world. To cultivate strong relationships with consumers, retail banking providers must find new ways to deliver a positive experience.

But how do financial institutions deliver superior customer service when engagement is almost purely digital, and they no longer have an opportunity to “meet” the customer in-person?

  9. Lauren, a digital analyst starts her work every day by grabbing her coffee, switching on her computer to read her email and then proceeding to sign into her dashboard to pull up a report on all website feedback from the previous day. This report is generated by a feedback form that was triggered when a customer ended their website session without purchasing one of her company’s insurance products.

  10. It's an occupational hazard within the retail sector: Lessons learned in the market are usually learned the hard way. Adding insult to injury, there is a very low margin for error, particularly when changing course in the business does not correlate with shopper demands.

The good news for grocery retailers is that decades of lessons learned via brick-and-mortar initiatives for category management and shopper marketing can be applied to e-commerce with relative ease.

So why isn't this happening at a faster pace? There are two main reasons.

First, CPG brands have been slow to react to e-commerce and have failed to make the necessary investments. Second, in an effort to react quickly to e-commerce competition such as Amazon some retailers are rushing to "band-aid" solutions, rather than building capabilities that enable a customized user experience and the ability to harvest invaluable customer data.

With that in mind, here are three basic lessons from traditional commerce that can fuel e-commerce success.
