  1. Adidas recently announced that it will integrate the features currently on its Confirmed app into the athletic retailer’s main Adidas app. Since 2015, the Confirmed app has enabled consumers to reserve Adidas’ high-in-demand items, such as its Yeezy sneakers, made in partnership with rapper Kanye West. This sole feature of the app makes its function useful for trend-conscious consumers. However, the consolidation of these two apps will allow for a more convenient consumer buying experience.

  2. Artificial intelligence (AI) is an unstoppable force. As noted by Martech Today, AI is already "here and now," and three-quarters (registration required) of companies that are using AI see improved revenue. The technology continues to make significant advances in both predictive capability and intelligent decision making — organizations are excited about the prospect of merging AI with existing people and processes to boost overall business outcomes.

What AI enthusiasts don’t want to talk about? The immovable objective to its unstoppable force: employee experience.

  3. In the modern world, creating a great user experience often drives more circular thinking. With customers wanting more sustainable and convenient products and services, sustainability now drives value.

A fitting example of putting user experience at the heart of circular thinking is the M&S Hubs concept produced by Cranfield University and creative agency Dragon Rouge. The Hubs are local supermarkets fuelled by organic waste.

After a long day at work, the last thing I need is a scramble to find food when I get home. But what if my M&S app could tell me something in my fridge needs to be used before it goes out of date?

  4. " User Experience certainly seems like one of those “nice to have” things. Who wouldn’t want their users to have a “delightful” time? Who wouldn’t want to be “empathetic” to their needs?

I know you think about your users in the website revision meetings! I’ve listened to you try and put yourself in the customer’s shoes in the feature development discussion!

I also know that you are up to your eyeballs busy every day getting a website up and running and due yesterday that creates value for the company. Value that was created by reaching KPIs such as increased sales and leads, all the while trying to keep costs such as development time down.

That’s why I am here to tell you, if done correctly, that’s exactly what User Experience does."

  5. Despite all of this hot July weather, we’ve got a cool new batch of updates we’d like to share this month, including our new webhook system (giving you the freedom to relay feedback data to several other applications), a brand new deployment script (without jQuery), a new feature that lets users add feedback form data to a cookie and some updates to our email alert feature!

  6. The way we use technology to communicate varies drastically based on age, perhaps most conspicuously within family circles. Communication between a brother and sister, or another generational peer, is typically a much more fluid experience than with a parent, grandparent or distant relative. While younger generations have commonly adopted social media platforms to stay connected, technological accessibility often leaves older generations out of the loop. As our ecosystem of communication technologies grows more diverse, how can we look to develop experiences that are easy for older, in some cases less technologically-savvy generations to adopt, while still keeping younger, digital natives engaged?

  7. “Security is everyone’s job now.” These are wise words from Amazon’s CTO Dr. Werner Vogels, especially for companies embarking on a digital transformation or accelerating their journey.

Why should we all consider this advice? A recent report released by McKinsey i » shows impressive figures: More than 100 billion lines of code are created annually, and hackers produce some 120 million new variants of malware every year. A strong Cybersecurity strategy is essential. Gartner research predicts that “By 2020, 60% of digital businesses will have suffered a major service failure.”

Is it any wonder, then, that Cybersecurity issues keep all of us up at night? The fundamental issue is not about developing new Cybersecurity capabilities as part of business strategy. Instead, it’s about integrating them seamlessly.

  8. User experience is vital in digital marketing and this marketing approach allows companies to achieve such goals, he adds. Companies could utilise the data they collect to send personalised marketing content to users. They could also continually improve their websites and apps to make them more user-friendly.

This compares with sending customers inappropriate marketing material that could annoy them and put them off your products or services. “Things like sending an email with the same content to all your clients and hoping for them to respond are a bit old school. It is an old method and not the way to go,” says Srivatsan.

  9. User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) are intimately connected. In fact, it is the user interface that determines what experience a user has with software/programs with which he is interacting. Good UI will provide what is called a “user-friendly” experience, one that lets the user interact with a piece of software in easily and intuitively.

This is all related to the design. And specifically with educational and training software, user interface is everything. No one wants a learner to struggle to figure out where to go, what to do next, or how to find something. The entire learning experience should be seamless, so that focus can be placed on the learning objectives and activities.

So, what are the most critical features of UI design that will provide the perfect experience for learners? Here are five of them.

  10. So you have a million-dollar app idea? That's awesome! Oh, did you say you have kickass programming skills to turn it into a reality, too? Amazing! Now, all there is left to do is to design your app to look aesthetically pleasing and make it so easy to use that a five-year-old would have no problem navigating through it.
