  2. According to a 2017 study by mobileinsurance.com, a person spends roughly 1.5 hours a day on the phone.

While that may not seem significant, it averages out to nearly four years of his or her life. When actual usage was analysed, it was found that calling people featured only sixth on the list. While gaming and social media were top contenders, app usage featured second on the list, closely behind browsing. It should come as no surprise then that User Experience (UX) has become key to Internet product development. Simply put, a person’s UX covers his or her interaction with a product.

  3. The phrase “it’s never too late” doesn’t relate to making a good first impression. You are at risk to lose users if they don’t like the app’s UI at first glance. That’s why user interface is getting so important. It’s literally the first thing users see even before they start interacting with a product.

According to Google research, 26% of all installed apps are used no more than once. The main reason for this is poor UI. To engage users into your interface, you should follow the most recent design trends.

  8. One of the fables that floats around UX teams is that of the US space program and its quest for a pen that could be used in anti-gravity.

They reportedly spent million dollars developing a high-tech writing utensil with ink that remained solid until the flow of writing and a pressurized chamber that made it useful upside-down. The Russian cosmonauts, however, simply brought pencils.

Though this story isn’t wholly true, it shines light on the necessity of understanding the larger picture. The space pen did make it into orbit and was a privately-funded accomplishment in engineering...
