  1. User interface (UI) design in enterprise software has been a topic of conversation for many years. UIs try to contribute to a great user experience; a good UI ensures the smooth completion of a task and makes the software user experience enjoyable.

The interface we see on our smartphones every day has been many years and many iterations in the making, designed to provide a simpler way to navigate the system and maintain a seamless flow of work productivity.

In today’s digital era, we’re seeing a big change of focus from UI to modern user experiences (UX) such as conversational UX and purpose-built UX where the user experience is all about the optimal way to arrive at an outcome. Here’s why UX will trump UI for enterprise software users in the future:

  3. Next generation User Interfaces (UI) will be tactile and responsive to non-verbal communication in which remote users will be able to enjoy haptic experiences through real-time interactive systems. Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR) enabled UI will be important to enable a substantially more rich User Experience (UX) for many industry verticals that leverage these immersive technologies. The research sees these technologies being used for a myriad of different consumer-facing UX enhanced marketing, sales, and product/service usage scenarios. We also AR, MR, and VR used for a variety of enterprise purpose including internal operations, managing supply chains, and supporting customers.

  4. It may seem evident that the aim of using collaboration tools is to enable excellent communication and information management. Used correctly, the technology also facilitates vital decision-making. Yet, according to The Harvard Business Review, almost 40% of CIOs and IT professionals say their systems make it harder, not easier, for employees to work quickly.

When choosing communications and collaboration technology for business, a key factor is the user experience (UX) it delivers. This includes a well-designed user interface (UI) to enable easy and intuitive collaboration. The UI encompasses all the visual elements used to interact with conferencing platforms – from screens to pages and even buttons and icons.

  5. "A few days ago was my 2 year anniversary at StatMuse (visit us) and subsequently also my 2 year anniversary as a UX/UI Designer! Although I am happy that we’ve shipped multiple responsive websites, a brand new iOS app, and a some platform bots, I do recognize that I’ve made a whole bunch of mistakes along the way."

  6. For almost a decade, we’ve talked about wanting to modernize enterprise software user interfaces (UI) to match consumer software, but we’ve gone about it the wrong way. The modernization of UI was proposed as a solution to meet the increased expectations that enterprise software should be as simple to use and nice to navigate as the applications we use at home from any device. But investing in software UI that merely looks beautiful is a waste of time and resources.

  7. We’ve all overheard conversations, walking down hip streets of the world’s tech capitals, discussions about the great ‘UX’ of a product, or the poor ‘UI’ of a website. Is it a secret language you will never be privy to? Are these people just using slang to look cool?

Well, ok probably yes to the latter, but a determinate NO to the rest. Read on to learn what these terms mean, which jobs are better paid, and how to become a UX designer or UI designer.

  8. Many organizations are taking steps towards becoming compliant with the upcoming EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) before the May 2018 compliance date. But only a few are considering user experience (UX) aspects of GDPR compliance, which is of paramount importance in order to gain a competitive edge. A sound UX strategy tied with GDPR compliance will enable organizations to use personal data privacy as a differentiator in the market to attract new customers and retain existing ones. It is necessary to consider privacy as a key ingredient of your UX at the initial stages itself.

This webinar will cover best practices when applying GDPR into your product experience and user journey with the examples such as:

    - User onboarding
    - Privacy by design
    - Managing user consent
    - Adopting your software and user interfaces to ensure GDPR compliance

  9. So you have a million-dollar app idea? That's awesome! Oh, did you say you have kickass programming skills to turn it into a reality, too? Amazing! Now, all there is left to do is to design your app to look aesthetically pleasing and make it so easy to use that a five-year-old would have no problem navigating through it.

  10. UI/UX designers are in growing demand in today’s tech heavy world. And they should be! User interface and user experience is everything your audience sees and engages with on a digital platform, so it’s pretty important. A digital experience is absolutely nothing without design, and a bad design can ruin everything.
