  1. If you haven’t noticed, user experience (UX) is revolutionising and defining the digital strategies of just about every company in the business world today. And while this revolution is indeed grabbing ahold of almost every industry in existence, there is one in particular that really puts UX on a pedestal. The tech industry, where nowadays ‘you’re only as good as the user experience of your products’.

  2. Today it's obvious that a company needs an effective website; in fact, it's hard to remember when websites were not accepted practice. A similar trend is in its early stages -- every company will need a branded digital assistant that communicates in human language. The company's digital assistant will be available through multiple channels such as mobile phones, and via the commercial personal assistants (e.g., Alexa "skills").

  3. Retail CIOs are building an omnichannel network to reach their customers in multiple ways. The looming challenge remains the unparalleled speed of changing dynamics, driven primarily by a savvier and demanding new generation of shoppers. With this, CIOs in the retail industry today are facing a 'do or die' situation with building and introducing novel digital experiences for customers.

Although online sales for retailers are growing exponentially, there is still very strong interest in shopping at brick and mortar stores. However, the dynamics have grown to a complex juxtaposition — where apart from being able to securely shop online from their favorite retailer, the customer also wants to have the ability to walk into a store location and have an ultra-rich digital experience that establishes an intimate relationship.

  4. The ‘digital’ is the easy part to understand. ‘Experience’ is every interaction a customer has with your company. How do they experience your brand? And ‘Management’ is how you monitor and keep track of everything so you know what messages to send and how to interact with your customers.

  6. Let’s get straight to the point. – The number one priority of any Ecommerce website is to generate sales. And the biggest hurdle in achieving that is the shopping cart abandonment rate.

Shopping cart abandonment simply means visitors leaving your online store without making any purchase. And right now, 69.89 percent of online shoppers abandon their shopping carts, according to Baymard Institute’s calculations from 34 studies on e-commerce cart abandonment.

While of course there is nothing much you can do about visitors leaving your website for the reasons out of your control – reasons like not interested in your products or not ready to buy yet, but what about the visitors who are ready to buy? – why are they leaving?

  8. User experience, edge computing and AI will continue to dominate as key trends in 2019 as organisations put particular focus on simplifying their enterprise architectures. We will see organisations transform for the everything-as-a-service economy and changing the way they operate. Advances in technology and business demands mean that enterprise technology is unrecognisable from what it just five years ago, with a focus on technologies that can boost people productivity and the ability to serve customers.

In Australia, a 2017 report by economics and strategy consulting firm AlphaBeta revealed that if the rate of automation is doubled, it will take away on average four hours of work each week from Australian workers over the next 15 years. Additionally, Australia should double its pace of artificial intelligence and robotics automation to reap an AUD$ 2.2 trillion opportunity by 2030, while also urgently preparing to support more than 3 million workers whose jobs may be at risk.

  10. While you may be able to recognize and appreciate the work of graphic designers, fashion designers, and architects in your everyday life, you may not think too often about experience designers. But user experience (UX) designers have a huge impact on the products most of us use every day, especially digital products like smartphone apps and websites. A UX designer is in charge of how you interact with a product and the overall experience: What features does it offer? When you click a button on an app or website, where does it take you? Can you find that button? How many clicks should it take to put in your credit card information or sign up for a new account? How easy is it to figure out how to share a link or invite a friend? It’s a UX designer's job to figure that stuff out.
