  1. Mobile management is the way of the future. Statista estimates that by 2021, mobile e-commerce will make up 54% of U.S. e-commerce sales, making effective mobile sites a vital element for e-commerce companies.

To find out which e-commerce mobile mistakes should be avoided to stay relevant, I asked a panel of entrepreneurs from YEC the following question:

  2. Tech giants like Google and Facebook continue to invest time, money and energy into the development of their algorithms. As a result, search engine optimization (SEO) trends and marketing tactics are constantly changing.

Meanwhile, e-commerce businesses that already have SEO marketing strategies in place need to also adapt to these changes if they want to remain relevant and dominate their respective markets. Make one SEO mistake, and you could set your business back significantly.

That’s why it’s important to maintain a firm grasp on the latest e-commerce SEO trends as they emerge and leverage them so you can start 2019 at the top.

  3. Mobile e-commerce used to be considered a “cherry on top” for desktop online retail. As smart mobile devices became more widespread and accessible, people began incorporating them into the e-commerce journey—but primarily to search and browse products rather than conduct transactions. This was due in part to the challenges associated with using mobile browsers of the past when it came to complex, multi-step interactions like checking out.

  4. Let’s get straight to the point. – The number one priority of any Ecommerce website is to generate sales. And the biggest hurdle in achieving that is the shopping cart abandonment rate.

Shopping cart abandonment simply means visitors leaving your online store without making any purchase. And right now, 69.89 percent of online shoppers abandon their shopping carts, according to Baymard Institute’s calculations from 34 studies on e-commerce cart abandonment.

While of course there is nothing much you can do about visitors leaving your website for the reasons out of your control – reasons like not interested in your products or not ready to buy yet, but what about the visitors who are ready to buy? – why are they leaving?

  5. B2B ecommerce marketing has rapidly grown over the last few years, offering plenty of potential as a sales channel for traditional industries.

B2B sales are slowly and quietly catching up to B2C sales, as the industry continues to grow.

This market caters to the large number of businesses around the world who are seeking and selling anything and everything from software and hardware to medical equipment, electrical components, specialised equipment, and other niche products.

  6. As Amazon continues to dominate the e-commerce space, smaller online retail businesses must do more to compete. Web design is one effective way e-commerce businesses can stand out to consumers while making a worthwhile investment in their marketing strategy. A recent consumer survey from Clutch shows that people value three main user experience (UX) features when they browse online:

    - Effective navigation
    - Updated website design
    - Authoritative content

Updating a website to include or enhance these three features will benefit businesses beyond simply improving the user experience. Investing in navigation, design, and content also has important branding and SEO benefits.

  7. "I want to focus on revenue again with you this week because, not only is it great for your bottom line, but it’s a lot of fun!

One current e-commerce client of ours had some great mobile traffic but a really poor conversion rate. Despite getting great numbers, they just weren’t seeing the revenue they should have been. We did a simple UX fix and that caused organic mobile revenue to rise 600%!"

  8. You are an online marketer or eCommerce manager of a successful webshop and you’ve got all the necessary tools up and running. You’ve got your ads and retargeting efforts that provide you with leads. Then there’s A/B testing which provides insight into what is and isn’t converting your visitors. Meanwhile your web analytics and heatmaps are showing you what’s happening on your site. This is often the basic toolkit for webshops, which is logical, because it is important to know what your visitors are doing on your website. Unfortunately these tools don’t provide a complete understanding of the customer…

  10. Magento is a well-known ecommerce platform, recently acquired by Adobe. It offers two distinct platforms: Magento Open Source and Magento Commerce (or Magento 2). Supported by global network of nearly 1,150 solution and technology partners, Magento has a library of almost 5,000 extensions, created by other developers that ‘extend’ the functionality of the platform. These extensions range anywhere from Accounting & Finance to Customer Support and Reporting & Analytics to Shipping & Fulfillment and much more. There are also several notable user feedback extensions that are ideal for getting your customer feedback programme up and running.
