  1. Many designers have strong opinions about the use of sliders and slider controls in website design. Some love them; others hate them. A poorly-timed carousel or automated gallery slider can distract users from more critical site aspects. On the other hand, a manual slider allows mobile and website users to navigate through a range of content features or options quickly. Explore sliders and slider controls and find out when they are most useful in web design.

  3. About six months ago, I left Facebook cold turkey. I had tried leaving it before, but always ended up going back. It wasn’t the not‑so‑subtle hints or wanting to see the pictures of all my friends—or at least people with whom I’d connected on Facebook—that drove me back, but fear of missing out (FOMO). What if something happened to someone, and I wasn’t aware of it? What if I thought of a witty one-liner and couldn’t share it immediately with a group of people, then bask in the adulation they would inevitably provide in response to my genius? What about that important political opinion about Trump or Brexit that I’d need to share among my fellow right‑thinking people?

  4. The form is one of the most significant and commonest modules no matter on the webs or in the apps. Forms are widely used — for registration, subscription services, customer feedback, checkout, to initiate transactions between users and companies, or as data input to search or share information.

  5. Many business owners think of conversion rate optimization only after they realize their websites don’t convert well enough. That means hundreds of potential customers have already been lost; and, until various CRO methods are tried out, additional hundreds will leave their site without taking any action.

There’s another way. Taking care of user experience (UX) from the very beginning (even before a website is designed) is a way to avoid those losses.

    Here’s how.

  6. What are the components that make a great user experience?

These components can be ordered in a hierarchy or pyramid, with the most essential at the foot and the ultimate at the top. Let's examine this hierarchy, which is taken from Econsultancy's Best Practice Guide: User Experience and Interaction Design for Mobile and Web.

  7. If designed well, conversational user interfaces offer many benefits to end users. Language is the most natural interface humans understand. Therefore, talking to a machine rather than entering specific commands facilitates a more natural user experience. It will take a user less effort to get familiar with an application as there is no need to get used to screens, navigation hierarchies, input fields, and buttons. Thanks to machine learning, applications will learn how to adapt to humans, rather than humans needing to adapt to applications.

  8. To be or not to be? That is a question which is constantly repeated. People often have to face some choices which are hard to make. Designers’ job is also full of the situations when two solutions seem like right but you need to make a choice and not to stumble. When it happens, a creative team runs tests for both to find out which solution is the best. One of the popular methods is called A/B testing. The article describes the facets of A/B testing methodology and shows how designers apply it for UX improvement.

  9. Are businesses willing to place UX design in a leadership role?

That depends on our ability as UX design leaders to clearly articulate the impact design has on business. In order for UX leaders to succeed in this environment we must first come to terms with the fact that design is not the center of the corporate universe. This is why it’s integral to educate the C-suite on it’s importance in order to ensure that UX and design are recognized as key pillars of business success and overall strategy. So, how do we do this?

We can gain a seat at the table if we are willing to peel off layers of UX-jargon and design-speak in order to clearly communicate the problems we solve for the business using the language of the organization. Here are some key approaches that will help UX design leaders get involved in the business conversation and earn a seat at the table.
